- Hello from Boston! We're with Dr. Tsuyoshi Kaneko, who is Assistant Professor of Surgery at Harvard Medical School and cardiac surgeon at Brigham and Women's Hospital in Boston. Dr. Kaneko obtained his MD from Keio University School of Medicine in Japan, and completed several residences in surgery: at Keio University Hospital in Tokyo and at University of Texas in Houston. Dr. Kaneko then did a fellowship in cardiothoracic surgery and endovascular cardiac surgery at Brigham and Women's Hospital, and in cardiac surgery and aortic surgery at Duke University Hospital. Dr. Kaneko's clinical interests are in aortic aneurysms, surgery of aortic arch, ascending aorta and aortic root, and also in surgery for connective tissue disease, for example, for Marfan syndrome. He is also interested in transcatheter and open heart surgery of mitral valve and aortic valve, and in surgery for thromboembolism of pulmonary artery. Dr. Kaneko co-authored over 50 papers in international peer-reviewed medical journals and spoke on many topics of cardiothoracic surgery and clinical outcomes in heart surgery at international medical and surgical meetings.
